Placement after a media course does not happen automatically — it requires active effort alongside the institute's support. Here are the strategies that work specifically in Kerala's media job market.
Build Your Portfolio During the Course
Do not wait until graduation to start your portfolio. Every assignment, location shoot, and editing project should be documented. By the end of month four, you should have a portfolio ready to show. Strong candidates arrive at interviews with 15–20 polished pieces and a live Instagram profile.
Instagram — Your Most Important Career Tool
Create a dedicated Instagram profile for your professional work before you complete the course. Post consistently — at minimum twice per week — and engage genuinely with studios, photographers, and agencies in your target city. Many Kerala media job offers come through Instagram DMs to students with visible, consistent portfolios.
Tap the Institute's Network
CIMT's placement assistance includes direct referrals to Camrin Films partners, affiliated studios, and industry contacts. Actively use this — speak to placement coordinators, attend alumni events, and follow up on every referral. Passive candidates get fewer opportunities than proactive ones.
Target Studios, Not Job Boards
Most Kerala media positions are filled through studio networks, not job portals. Identify 15–20 studios or agencies you want to work at, follow them on Instagram, and reach out directly with your portfolio 4–6 weeks before graduating.
