Editing a wedding film professionally is a multi-day process requiring both technical skill and storytelling instinct. Here is the complete workflow used by professional wedding videographers in Kerala.
Step 1 — Organise Your Footage
Create a Premiere Pro project with bins (folders) for: Ceremony, Bridal Prep, Groom Prep, Reception, Drone, B-Roll, Music, and Audio. Label clips by camera and angle. Discard obvious unusable footage at this stage.
Step 2 — Build the Highlight Reel First
Most clients want a 3–5 minute highlight film first. Select your 30–40 best clips, arrange them to a pre-licensed music track, and cut to the beat. The edit starts with emotion, not chronology.
Step 3 — Full Ceremony Edit
Edit the ceremony in real time, using multi-camera sequences if you had multiple angles. Cut between angles at natural transition points — never in the middle of a meaningful moment.
Step 4 — Colour Grading
Apply a consistent LUT (Look-Up Table) to all clips first, then fine-tune exposure and white balance per clip using Lumetri Colour. Kerala's warm skin tones look best with slight orange-red lift in the shadows.
Step 5 — Audio Mix and Export
Mix ceremony audio with music track, lower music during vows. Export at H.264, 4K 25fps for delivery; a 1080p web version for WhatsApp delivery.
