Wedding photography in Kerala demands technical precision. Whether shooting bright outdoor mandap ceremonies, dim church interiors, or candlelit receptions, your camera settings determine shot quality before editing begins.
Aperture — Your Primary Tool
Use f/1.8–f/2.8 for indoor and low-light situations. For outdoor group shots where depth matters, step to f/5.6–f/8. Shoot in Aperture Priority (Av) for dynamic scenes and switch to Manual when lighting is controlled.
ISO by Lighting Situation
- Outdoor daylight: ISO 100–200
- Overcast outdoor / shade: ISO 400–800
- Indoor ceremonies: ISO 1600–3200
- Dark reception halls: ISO 3200–6400 with flash support
Shutter Speed Rules
Never drop below 1/200s for moving subjects like dancers or processions. For static portraits, 1/100s is fine. Follow the reciprocal rule — shutter speed should equal or exceed your focal length.
White Balance
Set a custom Kelvin value (3200K–4500K indoors) rather than Auto White Balance. AWB shifts between frames, creating inconsistent skin tones in post-production.
Mastering these settings takes hands-on practice. CIMT's Photography Master Program in Kochi puts you on real wedding shoots alongside Camrin Films professionals within the first month.
